As controversial a subject as this might be, I would welcome your thoughts and votes.

What do you regard abortion to be?

I voted for the 2nd option, however, I would add that there are too many people who now see abortion as like an extension of contraception.

I know one girl who has had three abortons and she is only in her mid 20's.

However, I would never ban it, as this would only push it into the "back streets", as it used to be and, these illegal terminations were often carried out by dentists, who were struck off, and who used filthy equipment, resulting in the death of the women involved.

Your thoughts please?

I think 'termination' is acceptable as long as it is not being used as a regular form of contraception, as you are, whichever way you look at it, terminating a life.

hmm, I dont know how to vote in this one.

I am Pro-Choice, but contraception is better than termination. Personally, I could never do it (I would think again in terms of rape, but the foetus is blameless and if I couldnt bear to raise it, there are many couples who cant have kids, so i'd possibly go for adoption instead.) this is due to my own personal beliefs.

But the choices people make are their own. I am not here to preach, and using violence and intimidation to stop people excercising thier right to choose makes me soo mad.

Fact is, if abortion was made illegal again, many women would die as before they legalised it, in bad back street condiditons. Yes, the facility should be available. But I'm probably not up for more than a morning after pill after an exploded condom. (i've never been pregnant, so who really knows?) And bomb happy pro lifers arent really pro life. They are pro- FEAR. and we all know my Yoda take on that.

Is mine the only female viewpoint here? Come on ladies, lets see what we think more broadly. After all, it is our bodies we're discussing, and our right to choose. our counselling sessions wed'd go to afterwards, if we did terminate. (i use termination as the terminology, as abortion also refers to a natural miscarriage in medical terms)

Still undecided on a vote, PhoenixFlower Confused

whether or not the woman was raped, i think she should give birth to the baby.
what would you do if you were in that situation? if you were pregnant? no matter how small, there's a baby inside you which would grow and grow, be born, a baby, a toddler, a kindergartener, a child, an adolescent, a teenager, an adult, a mother/father, a grandma/pa. a person inside you.
if you abort it, you're indirectly killing a person. thats my view.

chunkymonkey may be irritating but he is waking up this forum a bit, i guess.

He is definately an ignorant male... lol , I bet if he got raped and it was possible for him to give birth, god forbid, he would abort abort abort!! But it is the females that have to go thru all the terrible trauma in the first place, then they have to decide and live with the guilt. He wouldnt have a clue. Many females would rather die than have a rapists kid. Why give power to the rapist, for fucks sake. And it would be his fuck and their (females) sake. What kid would want to be known as the child of a rapist? What life would that kid have? It would grow up so fucked up. Oh, I get it, Chunkymunkey was a child born of rape...?? Maybe now it is making some sort of wierd sense now.

So, Chunkymunkey is a rapist survival kid....?

Now you see what I am saying.... Chunky you should have been aborted, cos you suck! And you are sick !!! Find a tall building, mate.

I think what happened was that when he was born, the mid-wife threw the wrong bit away.

That's not as bad as some of the views I've seen. Some fundamentalist christians even think that it's acceptable not to abort a child of incest. If you think a child of rape would grow up fucked in the head, think about a child of incest!

On the same subject, I think children of rape should be aborted anyway, because we don't want rapist's genes floating around in the gene pool any more than we absolutely have to.

Hi All:

I was undecided on my vote so I opted out. Speaking from personal experience I had two abortions, one when I was 15 and one when I was 17. Both involved the same partner who left it up to me, spineless bastard. Do I regret it? Yes and no. Having children now and knowing how precarious life is... yes I regret it. Knowing who I was back then and how the children would have possibly turned out.... no. Did I murder someone.... yes.... just at a different age in their life. Truth hurts but I can't take it back. I just have to live with it.... It's a personal decision so I don't pass judgement on other people or their circumstances but one must realize the truth about what they doing and the personal responsibility you must assume for your actions.

I've never been pregnant, so I've never been in the position to have to choose. I think about what I would do if I were, and in every instance I would choose to keep the baby. Just because I feel that everything that exists has a right to exist.
Except bugs.
Cool

what makes you think i'm a man?
my point is, that if a woman is raped and made pregnant, of course its her choice whether to give birth to it or not.
that child she is pregnant with is innocent. it doesn't deserve to die. its not the child's fault its mother was a rape victim. if she doesnt want the child, then at least she could give birth to it and give it up for adoption. it might be a little daunting for the child, not knowing its mother, and vice versa, but at least it wasnt murdered. they could reunite if they wanted.
they can choose their futures.
but then, of course, you would be clueless. you're all (mostly) men so you wouldn't understand knowing the fact you could never be pregnant. it doesnt take a fool to feel the pain of a mother with a child they hadnt chosen, growing inside of them, whether you've experienced it or not.
just this little something called empathy.

perhaps your reaction to this topic is sensitivity. i know im not a 'rapist surviver', but maybe you ought to reconsider that about yourself.
the symptoms are there for you to speculate.
play nicely; i'm not easily put down Wink

You know what I love about a ton of people on this forum? They form strong opinions on subjects they know nothing about.

Any bug that is found inside: eating my food, under my pillow, in my bathtub, etc. Outside bugs are okay.
